Davao Hiring: Appen is in need of Project Engineer (Python Developer)

Position Summary

A Project Engineer (Python Developer) is responsible to prepare and manipulate large amounts of audio and text data for processing through Appen’s tools. He/she, together with a global team of creative developers and mentors, will help create and deliver client-specific formats, design end-to-end solutions, and provide tools to support a project need. He needs to have programming skills necessary to support our projects.

Key Responsibilities:
• Process large amounts of text and audio data
• Load data into company tools for transcription and translation
• Design and develop technical solutions for projects
• Update and retrieve data from SQL databases
• Write python and bash scripts to enable and automate project processes
• Assist the maintenance of existing IT scripts

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Degree in Computer Science
• Experience with SQL databases (esp. PostgreSQL)
• Strong skills in Python
• Comfortable with Linux and/or Mac OS X operating systems
• Familiarity with scripting in Bash
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Willing to work in office based in Davao City
• Work in US time as needed
